Bugie sent me a message telling me i could download the beta early. I am so happy. I dont have to put in Crackdown to play it now I just boot it as a demo. Its realy amaizing. The Graphics are dam good for a beta and most of all its fun to play. I was shakeing when a got the message.(For real) . I have noticed a lot of small changes to the gameplay as well as the big things. Frags seam to travle a lot more now etc. So far I have only played two matches on High ground but both have been dam good. I am glad i dont have to put crackdown in each time now to play it. The monguse is realy good i love its sound effects but I need to check it out on a bigger map to see its true top speed but its very good. I am like one of the first thousand or so to play it.
Go to bungie.net and check your inbox you may get lucky.
The download was around 30-45 mins for me give or take.

Yea i was getting crackdown before we new about the beta its a great game. The beta is realy good you guys will love it. Its somthing for me to put on the CV one of the first people to test Halo 3 multiplayer. lol

how many people in total will be in the beta? at least you wont be stuck looking for a server to play!
I downloaded the demo of crackdown, and have been on the verge of buying it for AGES. might take the plunge with my squiffy vouchers!

SO over 820,000 unique people used it. Pretty good, although I wasn’t one of them. And I still wont buy it!

For those of us plannin to buy an XBox 360 purely for Halo 3 :P …if you won’t be playing online, is there any point in buying the premium model? If we just buy a core and a memory card will we be able to play all the games? I’m worried something like GTA or Halo is going to require the hard drive…like in the case of Spiderman 3 on the PS3…takes up 2 gigs on the hard drive for some reason. Where are the cheapest places online to buy a premium or core 360?

No currently TRC ( Technical requirements checklist) for 360 say that the game but be bootable and payable without have a hdd (however if a hdd is detected it may be used to cache data to help loading speeds etc) . But all games must be playable without any memory units. -
That’s a relief. Is there any way to have the 360 format an external hard drive the first time it is booted up ala PS3?

Do you mean format an actual microsoft xbox 360 hard drive or just a standard external? There is an option to clear and re-format the official drive attached to the premium system on the dashboard.
One of the guys in Rockstar actually said that it is awkward not developing the same game for two platforms that have HDD’s and having instead to compromise. He said it led to lots of head-scratching moments.
It still amazes me that Microsoft still sell the core system. Apparently they see that as the one people will buy if they can, eventually, get it to retail for cheaper than the Wii, even though it could potentially make developing for the ps3 and the 360 on the same project harder for developers in a couple of years.

Well I know I plan to…the only reason for this being my internet connection is abismal (Irish Broadband, avoid like the plague) and so I don’t see a point for the head set, free month of LIVE, and hard drive. I’m sure a few people are in the same situation. How much to the memory cards hold…enough for a few games? (I was talking about formatting just a standard external btw :) )
Anyone know where the cheapest place to buy a new core is? Or the lace with the best bargains in terms of packages? Over the internet or in Irish retail?

surely the difference in price is only like 50-60 euro right? Stop being a cheapo bastard and buy the full kit :) You’ll benefit in loading times at the very least and saving your game progress, replays etc.
