Seems Microsoft want Halo to come to the silver screen, however like everything else they do theres strings attached…

One point that interested me however was..

Microsoft – or, more specifically, subsidiary Bungie Studios – would also retain a massive degree of creative control over the project, with the winning studio forced to work to a strict “bible” to ensure that the movie doesn’t conflict with anything in the complex universe set up by the previous Halo games and books, or anything planned for future games.[/quote:0c465f361d]
That I liked, I’m getting sick of movies coming out that dont stay close to their source material due to the director interpreting it in his own way or wanting to be different…

they’re going to have problems getting a director, because he wont have much say in film, so few will volunteer, and its unlikely MS will be satisfied with a first time director (especially with a budget like that).

basically ms just want a 75+ million dollar promotion for halo 3 when the ps3 launches.

Exactly, thats all it is really, a massive publicity stunt however one that needs to be done correctly lest people class the Halo franchise as a complete turkey due to the film…

i personally think the movie can stink and it wont effect the franchise.

No doubt “doom” will stink, but ill buy doom4.

Tomb Raider 1 movie stunk but didn’t really affect the franchisse to much.
2nd one stunk with a bad game, thats what hurt it.

Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Mario….all terrible movies and yet the franchises surived.

dunno if the movie was the bad hit to the franchise(true they sucked). But i would say it was the last few games which did the damage.

With TR? It was the only the last game, not the previous games because AOD still sold over 1 million units. And when you think about it, I’m betting the next one will too, so maybe its still not been hit that badly…

what about last revelation? i agree the next one will sell because they seemed to have rejuviniated the game.

Well I mean it would backfire in terms of publicity for the game meaning all that money wasted…not that MS can’t afford it or anything! I honestly doubt it would affect sales that much either way…

      *cough* Doom *cough*

Its good that they want a possible movie to stay in keeping with the material already produced.

Paul anderson should have gotten the message by now, no one likes him, his movies suck and he is just plain boring. Take a hint paul.
