Am I to understand that some time soon, my Gaming PC will require a stand-alone, dedicated Physics Card? (As in just like a graf kart, but looks after the physics processing?)
If so, any idea how much they will cost?

Not according to Havok. Havok FX will offload some calculations to the GPU, though as far as I know it requires a GPU capable of Shader Model 3.0
