Looks like an event worth attending…

One such alphageek is Dr David Delany, neuroscientist and CEO of Neurosynergy Games. His talk, entitled Evolution 2.0: Next Generation Brain Training Games, might just make Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training series of games for the Nintendo DS seem like MB Games’ Operation in comparison to open-heart surgery.

EDIT: Might be worth adding to the GD.ie calendar?

Signed up to see what it’s like. I’ll try remember the standout talks and give a little summary.

It’s been very interesting, a good occasion to see what’s going on different disciplines and to meet people who you can share experience, tips and, who knows, maybe a work… A ignite #2 has been announced for November, so stay in touch!

Ah yes, the review. It was an interesting format – 5 minutes, talker can’t stop the timed slides once they start (and indeed speakers needed to get up and talk immediately after the previous speakers slides finished). There were plenty of good ideas / topics and pretty much everyone got across their nugget of information. I found the Taeko live drumming session (Jennifer Edmond, Leah Kennedy, Fiona Murphy) stood out, as did the Pedestrian Crash Safety (Ciaran Simms) for its shock value. Mark Congiusta wins my award for most entertaining talker (Why a Good User Experience is the Best Form of Advertising) but there were plenty of other capable presenters. Of topical interest was the Brain Training Games presentation (David Delany) – the idea being that we can train the executive function of our brains to improve the way we think: http://www.neurosynergygames.com/.
