A problem for most is that it’s so far away. Even still, I think it could work. I’d like to see somewhere different and explore a new town. Accommodation may also be a problem for a lot of folk travelling from all across the island.

1st sounds like a good plan to me. Come to think of it, any of those dates works for me.

      safe bet i’d say dublin?[/quote:01e3c86e28]

Cork indeed! We heard word up here that ye barely managed to organise a picnic to show off ye’r culture. The sooner ye get yer independence the better Ill say! Then we’ll be rid of some of the least attractive blotches on our national character, as well as probably raising the average national IQ by a few points.

haha, i was at that picnic yesterday (and by at i mean passed by and passed by i mean drove speedily on the way to the beach).

nah places has a good atmosphere around at the moment, very european, lots of foreigners. Can actually for once walk down the city without running into someone you know on every corner.

I reckon ye have it here, it will change ye’re opinions. beer is cheaper also, so are clubs. (most expensive club being 8 euro, i wouldnt hazard a guess at the prices in the big smoke these days)

as for the iq, im sure its as high as most places, few ppl living here are from cork ;) as for the ugly folk again, we got the foreigners to make up for that. Swedish, danish, finnish etc.

As much as I hate to admit it, I do like cork. Problem is it’s just too far for people travelling from the north etc…though ill definately fo if there is critital mass.

that need not exclude others meeting on the 1st or elsewhere in ireland it just happens that most of my trips to dublin are around flights out of dublin.

I like the idea of a shindig elsewhere and would like to encourage people to self-organsie such events. Unfortunately just at the moment my schedule doesn’t really allow me to do so….hopefully that will all change come September!

Steph – there is a small group able to get together on the 22nd…

Would more people like claire etc. be able to make it if it was on the sat night, i.e. the 23rd?

Looks like we might head back to Mahaffey’s behind Trinity College for a change…

cool…so as far as I can see there are enough people able to make Friday the 22nd in Mahaffey’s pub in Dublin…if it is a really nice evening maybe we could have one or two beverages sitting outside the Pav bar in Trinity College (less than ten minutes away) and then move onto Mahaffy’s…

Dave can you check if Mahaffey’s are ok with us landing in that evening and don’t have any other events planned…? You just might be passing :)

I’ll pop in the next time I get a chance to – dont tend to be up that direction much any more! Pav would be a nice return to form either, I have wonderful memories of watching women’s cricket while supping a few ice cold beverages there.

A few of us from Donegal are thinking about coming down to see what all this shindig business is all about.

So as newbies we wanna know what time does the drinking start, and what time does the drinking end?

(Can we bring a SNES and Mario Kart and see what you guys are made of, or is that very idea enough to be banned from all future shindigs?)

Ghost Valley 1 – Time Trials anyone?

So basically what your saying Pete, is that if your dinner with the ambassador finishes early you can go buy those |-|off CD’s and you might make it to the shindig.

The drinking usually starts anywhere between seven and eight, and continues on till we get kicked out. Sometimes we head out after, though the last few times Tony’s arthritis has been acting up andwe all headed out seprate ways about half one. Assuming we are back in Mahaffeys, we all end up walking towards Doyles after we get kicked out, and some bright spark generally tters the infamous ‘just one more’ line.

We will be sitting in a pub, drinking beer and *talking* about games. You are welcome to bring a SNES if you want, though the odds of it getting played are zero, and the odds of it getting destroyed by flying drink much higher. I wouldnt mind a bit of Kart some time soon again though.

almost directly opposite the dunnes stores at the bottom(ish) of georges st.

and in case any one is really lost, Georges St. is th major St. that comes off dame st at Rick’s Burgers, and Dame St. is of course the big st leading away from the main gates of Trinity College.

Nagina Tandoori has, I think, a pink/purple shop front, and a sign that looks like if you chopped one of the legs off the ‘N’ it would be quite inapproopriate.

Right so, 6 at hub, for 6.15 at Nagina.
