InactiveAnyone here watch much manga?
Got into it last year but my source has dried up what with me not having broadband at the moment.
The best series I was watching were Naruto, Hellsing and Macross Zero.Any other pointers for when I get back into it?

Inactive‘Akira’ is the most famous and mainstream example that springs to my mind. Arguably a different quality threshold to some of the more ‘pulpy’ stuff, but that’s only my opinion.

InactiveWas actually thinking more along the lines of series.
Although other great movies include Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke and obviously Spirited Away. -

Inactive[pedantic]Firsty you’re safer referring to it as anime, manga is japanese for comic and also the name of one such company but for general purposes its all anime[/pedantic]
Ninja Scroll was my first real experience, and one of my favourites. In places laughable terrible, utterly beautiful and heavily censored. There is a 10th anniversary dvd out now, I don’t know if its uncut but the original (by all accounts) has Ninja Stars and a rape scene.
Aside from that Studio Ghibli (Miyazaki) stuff is in my opinion the best. The fact that Disney took time and effort to dub and distribute Princess Monoke and Spirited Away is to their credit.
And Akira is the seminal piece that everyone should watch. Even if like me you don’t think its all that.

InactiveThats right, I picked it up recently, the only added material seems to be extended Scenes of a sexual content, there is an interview with the voice talent(american only) however and a conversasion with the Director.
It comes on two disks, one is the original 1994 release, and the second disk is formatted into 16:9 wide screen. Still a great film though.
