Folks,
things have been delayed a little bit (darned real life!), but we are still hoping to get the new gd.ie up in the next few days or so. I hope to point a link shortly to where people can browse a bit, find any bugs etc.
Cheers for your patience, will have it up and going asap.

I like the new look.
Couple of things though…
The recent posts section doesn’t have the time of the post anymore so its harder to know if you’ve already read it.
Clicked on View Todays Posts and it came up with none :(Also, when looking at this post say…you cannot click on Feedback to go back one step, you need to go back out to Forum Index.

great job, Dave, Ian & john (have already passed on my congrats to Aphra this morning). Looks great and much improved all round
Things to look at, mostly usability:
– font size is the same everywhere in forums making it much harder to read
– also in Jobs section, but lots of character entities and gobbledegook included in job offers (e.g. http://www.gamedevelopers.ie/jobs/viewjob.php?article=70)
– haven’t checked this again recently, but this morning couldn’t log in to anything except forums (e.g. profile or PMs)
– lots of old jobs still posted too (e.g. TKO & Nephin jobs at least are now filled)
– “Most users ever online was 11 on 4th May 2005 12:59 PM” – replacing old text
– Letterkenny & IT Tralee course info missing from colleges
– would it not make more sense to separate the ‘games’ courses from the pure ‘IT’ ones in Courses?
– no link to Jobs or IGDA sections in top nav bar. Would suggest removing ‘home’ and ‘contact’ links to footer to make room -

When you are logged in, there is now a link from your profile section on the front page. It’ll be more obvious when the rest of the profile secion goes live (hopefully tonight)

– doesn’t seem to be an ‘edit’ link in each posting any more, meaning once posted, you can’t go back and edit old posts
– also, keep getting logged out after a while… if site uses cookies, I think the duration should be lengthened or set to expire on close of browser window/end of session

Are you sure that you’re still logged in when you see this? I know that the system has logged me out a couple of times after posting. Not in a while though…I notice that when you do go back to edit your post you have to wait a minute or so as it refuses to let you post again within so much time. This is all very good to prevent people from spamming the boards, but all I want to do is edit my post! Sure it’s only minor, still may be worth getting around to.

I upped the logout time to the maximum possible (99999 seconds) from 15 minutes, so people shouldnt get logged out as much any more. I’ve also turned the flood protection down to 1 second, so people should be able to edit/post quicker. If things get out of hand, I may need to up that again though.

You can only delete a message if it is the last message in a thread. Stops people making a post, someone replying and the original poster deleting their own message.
