While it does look rather interesting I’m still horribly disappointed they’ve ditched the Sands Of Time universe and gone in a new direction. It was one of the few series where I would have been perfectly happy with more of the same. That said I was also one of the few people that still really enjoyed the Warrior Within installment in the series so I may be a bit biased.
As for the new game, "Minjar", they seem to be taking more than a few pages from the likes of Okami, Shadow Of Colossus and God Of War. Between the visual style, story and the "killing boss guardians to dynamically heal the land" it seems any points scored in going in a new direction from the above are soon lost in the originality stakes.
Their comments regarding the removal of the Sands Of Time powers are also both amusing and intriguing at the same time. Their reasoning is supposedly that…
"the concept has been so used and copied, we had to move on to something else, put it to one side" – although a still-secret "something" will take their place and fulfil some of the same functions.[/quote:be624c9307]
Why they felt they needed to change things to avoid this and then went and mimicked other titles boggles the mind but at least they have something planned to fill the void. -

I personally think it looks great and welcome the idea of a fresh ‘look’ for videogames. Sands of Time kicked it off with blurs and blooms, soon everyone was using it (actually maybe ICO did it first) with the POP follow ups overdoing it even more. Regardless, I think the part painterly, part comicy, part cel-shaded be great, though clearly not to everyone’s tastes, and will probably spawn a host of imitators.

Nothing like a bit of swordsmanship and the ching of blades to get the blood pumping. Good old chop-em ups with a narrative beats gun-slinging any day. Looks great to me, can’t wait, now back to GTA…
