KeymasterI think this has already been going on to some degree behind the scenes. The UK announcement has probably given it fresh impetus.

I’d be interested to hear how. The guidance notes specifically state "excluding computer games" when discussing qualifying films, and list "games" as being ineligible…

InactiveWe looked into aspects of this back before in TKO (before it became PopCap Ireland). We had artists working on games art and the question arose as to whether games artists could be exempted from paying tax. As it turned out it’s a sort of grey area. If you are executing your own concept as an artist you are exempt, but if it’s someone elses concept you are not. I’m not sure how you could get round that. But I think that if an artist is creating a game from scratch, that’s their own idea, and they are using a games creation software package (for example) to make the game, then they should really be exempt. Either way it’s something that could do with a bit of clarification.

KeymasterUK tax credit scheme has been passed by the Commission in Brussels.
See: http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-14-331_en.htm
It will be interesting to see if there is a move here for something similar.

KeymasterJust in time for Quebec to cut back on its supports due to what looks like – to us – a small budget deficit!
