      Why oh why?!

Hopefully they will sort out the whole issue of having to hold the handset sideways to your ear when your calling someone!

      It looks ugly aswell!

Wow, good way to piss off the people who bought the original N-gage, Nokia.

meh, I have no interest in this thing. Bring on Nintendo DS.

As far as I know it will be retro-compatible! Like that’ll make a big difference, eh kyotokid? ;)

heh, that is good news ;)

Backward compatability ; The forty people who buy this will be able to play the ngage version of tomb raider 1 – good for them :)

Are any studios making games for Ngage\ QD (apart form the 2 titles mention)? Surely that would be the key question….

TKO are doing a couple of titles…as are a lot of others still.

      Hi all,
Following on from discussions about the design of the N-gage 2 handset; hot off the press and ahead of official announcements! First glance images:

sounds like they learned their lesson after the first n-gage.
      go nokia. (sarcasm btw)

      its smaller.
easy to change flash mem card.
no more radio/mp3 player (who used them anyway?)
sorry to dissappoint you ian, but theres no more sidetalking!
      :p
its the less conspicuous regular position for the handset when your talking.

Again in the Irish context; Eirplay Games have just finished an N-Gage game.

Nokia have claimed that close to 100 titles are in development. In fairness, Fifa 2004 is fairly slick!

I’m sure you’ll be rushing out to buy it now kyotokid! ;)

      Cheers,
      Ian

Thats cool. Are they games specifically targetted at Ngage or mobile handsets in general though?.

From my point of view I just never ever hear it mentioned as an option – Nokia should be more vocal about their business plan to developers, and their software support.

I mean, surely they want as many devco’s as possible to support it….

I am a gamer, who does not own a mobile phone, so I should fit the demographic of Ngage owners, but I just cant take the thing seriously.

They face an uphill struggle (again) to convince buyers.

“They face an uphill struggle (again) to convince buyers.”

      Definitely!

I’m not particularly a big fan of the N-Gage or anything and I know there are major flaws with mark 1 but I still can’t understand why the games community has reacted quite so badly to it?

I’m probably just being controversial here, but is it trendy to knock N-Gage???? (That’s my ‘Sex and the City’ impression of the day over) ;)

      Cheers,
      Ian

Its also not like they are newbies (like alot of other handheld companies out there) this is NOKIA -. The top dog. The big man. Numero uno honcho, The head cheese when it comes to these mobile thingies and they balls up it royally.

Also I dont like that Nokia guy.

      lol ;) (Girlie Laugh)

      What Nokia Guy? Ilkka Raiskinen?

OK, so they made some fairly brain-dead mistakes, but are Nokia getting a fair chance from the community??? (I lied about S.a.t.C.)

I was just going to try and merge MCI’s posts with the Nokia N-gage one…anyway, no harm done, just seemed to merge with an older thread and not the one intended…

and yes it seems you can’t move individual mails..

n-gage is now being sold for 99euro in shops.
will that make anyone buy it?
      not me anyway.

      NOKIA – The top dog[/quote:08333c3f19]
nokia are top dog of the european market as far as i know-i’m pretty sure they dont have a large percentage of the US or Asian markets (if any percentage at all).

i think the n-gage QD is going to fail purely because of the price of the games for it.
if they are anything like the prices for the ngage 1 – fifa was what – 50euro?
why bother paying that much when i can get a brand new ps2 game at that price –
as a gamer IF i owned the ngage it would only be to distract me on journeys etc..
it would not be my primary gaming platform.
for those that have gameboys as their primary platform, that’s fine – the game boy games are priced that much cheaper.

read online recently (can’t remember where) that Nokia are steadily increasing their market share in the US. Not in Asia where the likes of Samsung are shooting up the ranks – and of course Nokia have a huge percentage of the handset market in Europe
