Maybe some one on here can be of some help, ive had alot of trouble trying to secure work experience in a games company.
I am studying a level 5 Fetac Computer Games Design Course in Cavan Institute. Last year I completed a level 5 course in art, craft and design. I need to pass the work experience module in order to secure a certificate at the end of the year.
Even if I just get the opportunity to watch over some ones shoulder as they work it would be great!
As long as it stays in line with computers anything would be great!
      Modules ive studied :
Web design: i have a basic understanding of komodo edit, and dreamweaver
animation/ animation drawing studies: Ive a basic understanding of adobe flash.
3D modelling: I have been using blender since septmember, but i am not 100 percent efficent yet. I have also began designing a 3D game in Unreal Engine 4.
Image Processing: I have two years of photoshop experience, i would consider my skills to be of a good standard.

If anyone could provide any help at all it would be greatly appreciated.
      Thank you all in advance.

You are probably looking for something local? Are you in a position to spend time with family or friends in Dublin, Galway, Derry/L’Derry or Belfast for example?

As a last resort I wonder would working on a team at a coderdojo event or something like the global games jam be sufficient in lieu of companies in your area? Just check the age requirements…

I have merged these two topics as you are both from the Cavan institute and both looking for work experience.

My advice from before still stands.

Does it need to be on-site or are remote positions an option?

Preferably on-site so I can learn

I think that sounds like a useful suggestion given where you are located.

I think you should discuss with your tutor if a company is willing to do this.

MY NAME IS HEATHER MANGAN. I AM CURRENTLY DOING MY LEVEL 5 COURSE IN COMPUTER GAMES DESIGN IN CAVAN INSTITUTE. TO PASS THE YEAR AND GET MY FULL AWARD I MUST COMPLETE 2 WEEKS OF WORK EXPERIENCE/WORK SHADOWING. I AM CURRENTLY FINDING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DO SO AS I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR MONTHS AND NOTHING HAS COME UP AND MANY COMPANIES DON’T WANT TO TAKE STUDENTS. PLEASE CONSIDER LETTING ME DO JUST TWO WEEKS OF WORK EXPERIENCE AS I DESPERATELY WANT TO GET MY FULL AWARD.

We have done remote internships in the past. It would be down to you to learn something.
2 weeks is not a lot of time and most studios would likely stick to something non-critical for you to work on, so light QA or assets. If you’re still stuck and are happy with remote working then get in touch.
