KeymasterI think this is an interesting development – the Dublin Film Festival getting involved in bringing over major game designers for a public event.
Well done to Hugh McT in DIT for his work on this and thanks to Steve C too..

InactiveMolyneux has recently been outspoken about his frustrations with the British government and their lack of tax breaks & incentives for games companies in the UK. I’d be interested to hear what he thought about the same issues with respect to Ireland.
Of course I wouldn’t be around to hear the answer – any chance this is being recorded in any way?

KeymasterAungier is the posh new one, newish one, that is near the Cornerstone pub.
It is on your left coming from Dame street, pass the Avalon hostel and St. Valentine’s church and just before you hit the junction of Kevin Street and Wexford Street – the building itself is set back from the street with lots of glass.

InactiveCheers Lads – watched it online – very interesting and entertaining talk – top speakers. Great Q’s from the audience as well.
The stream itself was perfect quality – it was almost as if I was there – well, except the beer afterwards of course :)
Sink one for me and have a great evening!
Cheers,

It was mentioned in passing when Molyneaux said how there were like 20 different platforms one could develop for, but honestly the topic wasn’t covered in any depth.

InactiveAlthough the video is not available Molyneux’s talk was similar (though not identical) to this speech given at the baftas: http://www.bafta.org/access-all-areas/videos/peter-molyneux-bafta-video-games-lecture,887,BA.html
Nonetheless I am really looking forward to seeing the full video of the event in particular the Q+A session where a lot of the real beef of the evening’s discussion came up. Toward the end a chap at the back asked a great question about the nature of challenge in video games which I think is a hot topic in the context of natal and games like heavy rain and braid with their unique approach to the penalty dynamic of death and restart (and frustration!!!). Really, can’t wait to recap the answers from the panel.

InactiveHugh was talking about putting the movies online for viewing afterwards. Not sure what the status is as at present
Great event thought. With both Unity and CryEngine, the DIT games courses are looking pretty decent
