InactiveHey all,
anyone know how I can export a Poser 8 model (replete with animations and textures) into 3DS max 7, with minimum of fuss?
No joy so far :(
Thanks in advance,
Lewis

InactiveNot sure about animations, but when you export the model as 3DS and import it into max it should still hold the texture mapping information, so it would just be a matter of applying the texture to it in max.

InactiveYou are so right Dave. It doesn’t capture the animation, but I convert the model to a Biped with helper controls.
Pretty cool, as the Max UI is easier for char animation than poxy Poser, I find.
Thanks all.

InactiveManipulation of the limbs in Poser can be a real pain alright, with arms suddenly flipping backwards etc….

InactiveCareful with importing 3ds models into max, very often all of the vertices are unwelded which could fook things up if you’re using morphs or assigning verts to bones

InactiveYeah, and I see that the skin pose is not particularly accurate with regard to the biped. That is to say, all the vertices still need to be manually assigned to the bones. So effectively, it only really imports the mesh and the textures.
Still might be handy though.

InactiveAlso, I wouldn’t import a high res model from poser. Better off importing the normal version of the model and then if you want it to be smoother, just use a meshsmooth.
Just so max can handle the model without it slowing down….. -

InactiveNever used the plugins Lewis. In fact I haven’t used Poser in conjunction with max too often!
