InactiveI’m not very impressed with the UMD movie thing, I mean are any companies(apart from Sony Pictures of course!) going to actually bother to release their movies on UMD? Even if they do, is anyone actually going to buy them??
People aren’t going to buy a movie on DVD(which a lot of people do these days) and also buy it on UMD so they can watch it on their PSP.Will probably buy one after the price has come down and after seeing the games.

Have you played any of the games yet Nooptical?Just wondering.

Also Steph is it a bit clicky around these parts? -

InactiveNah – just getting you going a bit! ;)
We’re a good crew round these parts, and you’ll find the dialogues & banter more on the informed/educated/mature side than the “PSP sucks/my DS kicks its ass” side of things…
…though my DS does indeed kick SonEa’s ass any day :D

[/quote:af2e8fe712]No, and No. I’m basing my opinion on the price, well, on the price. And the looks, on how it looks. ;) I just don’t like its design. Maybe it is comfortable to hold, will wait and see.
My opinion on the games is based on previews/reviews etc. Ridge Racer looks good, but nothing else really interests me…..

Answer to both of your questions is yes and I’m unimpressed.
I could add a lot more things to be unimpressed with; flying disks, unresponsive square button, dodgy key and stick positioning….many more. -

Hahahaha…I think its greatest feature though is you get the impression that dropping it will caause it to smash into several pieces. I must admit I haven’t tested that one out though because I don’t own one and they’re a little expensive.

lmao.
In my opinion the design of the PSP is faultless, if you consider its aimed at a mass-market audiance, if you look at the machine from an aesthetic point of view then maybe some cracks begin to appear in the design as Nooptical has noted, personally I think it is much better conceived than Nintendo’s DS.
Oh and I heard the date on either http://www.gamesradar.co.uk or in Edge, or again on http://www.the-magicbox.com.

1. Click: A brief, sharp sound.
2. Clique: a small exclusive group of friends or associates.

Inactive1) Newbie (1 post when asking “have you done this/that Nooptical?”)
2) baiting regulars for PSP bad-mouthing (well, at least faults-outlining/debate)
3) then evangelising (of sorts) PSPIf it looks like one, sounds like one, smells like one… catch my drift?;)
Not that it wouldn’t be fun poking fun at Messengers of the Sonea faith, mind… But I believe such debates lead nowhere and are therefore best avoided: which is better, PSP or DS? Is one better for games, the other for price, one better for innovation, the other for looks, etc, etc?
Who TF cares? Like PS2/Xbox/GC before, this will probably turn into a ‘better to have both’ situation. PSP for the big franchises and better graphics (GTA, GT4…), DS for quirky multiplayer titles (Mario Kart DS and others). Such that direct comparison on any point (tech/design/price/ergonomics) is, IMHO, pointless.

InactiveThe PSP is a beautiful object, zoltar.
But consumer-appealing aesthetics should not be allowed to overshadow ergonomic design faults. Great looks is absolutely not synonymous with great gameplay, if one accepts that user control is one of the tennets of gameplay, and that goes not only for graphics but also hardware…

Indeed, I have yet to get my ‘mits’ on a PsP so wheter or not the aesthetics compliment the ergonomics is yet to be seen, all in all I like the PsP for the design, shoot me for doing so if you feel the will too.

Not so obvious for Nooptical, do excuse me.
Can’t do CS just yet, still at work, then moving on to the boozer (O’Brien’s, Upper or Lower Leeson St, one of the two – just been refurb’d) in not very long at all :D
But those should be available in CS, I do agree. A 12-bore bullet (which is what a Brenneke is) is rather terminal, might I add, both for the target when hit and for the shooter’s shoulder.

I also don’t agree thats its a sexy design. Technically it isn’t what Sony have said it is either.By the way guys, baiting newbies is really annoying. Chances are he’ll not post again because you pissed him off, just because he had an opinion. Not exactly the kind of atmosphere that we should have on a forum that is trying to attract as many people as possible due to the lack of games educated people in Ireland. If you’re reading this zoltan, ignore them.
