I think thats just the site Paul, they never mirror their downloads hence why you have a slow download rate. Also if you get Resi 4 before me I’ll be insightly jealous, alas I will have to jump off the nearest cliff, in Dublin…what?

I wasnt too pushed on getting the game but after reading the reviews, which influenced me to download some videos, i am now biding my time until i fire up my gamecube and hear that oh so creepy voice “RESIDENT EVIL”…

Btw r you studying Games design in BCFE?

Ah yes, that voice. Strangely nostalgic all the same.

Yes I am studying at BF, I am in CGHND1, just below you :)
I hear your entering Dare this year Paul. Best of luck with it, I was at the Dare talk a month back and some of the guys that entered last year aswell as the winners were present. Were you there? I was impressed by the winning game, a party game. It’s a fantastic compo and hopefully I will be able to get involved next year.

The compo is a great opportunity indeed. I entered last year and got some very helpful feedback that has been our backbone this year in developing our concept. We do think we have a truly original and innovative concept that we will develop into a demo over the next 4 months and we really hope the dare judges fall for it. You should look forward to entering as it is an exiting experience even if you dont happen to get past the irish heat.

I was at the talk alright yes and i found it to be quite insightful. But having worked for Starcave Studios, a games company based in galway, i know how long things can take to materialize, and when you see what the guys in dare achieved in 10 weeks, it puts it into perspective as to just how much work, effort and emotional attachment that needs to go into this. Especially since none of them(irish team) had no prior experience with game engines or game related content. It was also quite motivating to see what they had produced even when confronted with such heafty obstacles.

Oh and if i do get Resi 4 and finish it before you have got it, id have no problem giving it to you for a lend. Unless you want to wait til march 18th.. Sigh

      *puff* *pant*

Well, I will enter next year, it’s just that I’m ‘up in a heap’ this year. I am aware of StarCaves work Paul, nice to see you have the chance to intergrate your time there with what you might be doing for Dare. I look forward to seeing what materializes. If you need any testers… ;p

As for Resi, I’ll probably wait. I’m one of those people who likes to own the game. Especially Nintendo stuff. hehe. talk to ya.

Hi – Played Resi 4 (early build) at E3 last year – it was truly excellent then – so the final cut will be well woth the purchase price.

      Mike.

P.S. Is Starcave still running? I heard some company in Galway recently closed…. or was that just ill informed rumour? – I hope it’s not true!!!

When i left work there in September, they were still in very good shape, and from what ive been told and seen, they have continued going from strength to strength. However, if more money was spent than they could afford to, then the rumour could well be true..

It would be such a shame as they had a highly talented crew there and if its true, then i wish the best of luck to all of them in their future endevours.

The harsh reality of the games industry.. Sigh
