For those of you who are getting ready to enjoy Serenity this weekend, and if you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing them already, I must point out the River Tam Sessions.
Joy :P

Serenity has been out all week here :)
Actually could be wrong about that, was sure it was on one night when I was at the cinema, but doesn’t seem to be on any listings…. -

They did do a pre release release for it in places for the fans, jonathon ross gave it a good rev last night, said why couldn’t the three star wars have been like this.

Apparently its very very good. Looking forward to heading along on friday. Loved the original series – really did something exciting to the genre (and I really love ‘realistic’ (ie nasty) rather than ‘idealistic’ star trek characters)

Looks like a class movie alright. Never watched the series, so don’t have a clue what it’s all about, but the trailer is pretty sweet.

If you see the DVDs going for a reasonable price, pick them up – they are well worth it. Hoping the film does the business, means they might back to making the series (though fox are not too likely to get behind it…)

If the movie is successful then you never now. From watching the trailer, I thought it had a great style to it, it struck me as being not like your average sci-fi flick.

Sorry guys, got to meet Craig Buchanan and 2 of the cast at the preview in august, and I’m afraid there is little to no plan to go back to tv if the movie is successful. There are however plans for 2 more movies

Joss Whedon goes into quite a few details in this very interesting (IMHO) interview.
Anyway I believe there is something saying they can’t have any sort of TV show for the next 3 years, because of the original Fox contract. Which is where the “God Damn Trilogy” theory comes in. Wouldn’t that be great?

Apparently the budget for Serenity was a paltry (in Hollywood terms) $40m, if the trailer is anything to go by the production values are sky high and some of those FX shots look great

40 mil?
Thats nothin! And the FX looks great. Of course, I’ve only seen the trailer, but they still looked top-notch.
Must be paying the actors nothing…. ;) -

I had heard that the FX were good, but not quite major blockbuster quality. Still, ill trade 60m in special FX for a good script any day (…Mr Lucas)
