To be fair, the book was written 4 years ago.
Crazily similar though, perhaps it was City of Ember that was an influence for Levine and the rest of Irrational?

Maybe so, but wasn’t Bioshock in development hell for a few years aswell, the spiritual successor to System Shock 2?

Yes, I have an issue of PC Zone from 2003 listing Bioshock as one of ‘The Big Titles of 04’. The ‘little sisters’ were huge bugs at the time. {If you downloaded the art of Bioshock from last year it had the early designs in it}.

is it really that similar to bioshock?

Theres no crazy monsters? Possessed people, super charged weapons. Doesnt look like a futuristic vision from the 1950’s either?

All it is an under ground city with a few kids trying to escape? I would have said it was closer to the gooneys ;)

What Peter said really, outside of the underground city and the appearance of an over zealous leader in the shape of Bill Murray I can’t see enything else that’s similar.

Also, don’t forget that the story for Bioshock started out on a tropical island with Nazis, Link. :)

Nazi Island – I love it (as long as they don’t make it off!) I think the sets and art deco style direction instantly nod to Bioshock, to me its very apparent
