InactiveK,
managed to get a bit of work done on a few parts of the site this evening. If anyone finds any problems, feel free to pm me and Ill get back to you as soon as I can. If anyone wants the details in their old profile, give me a pm too and I’ll rescue it and send it to you for editing or stick it in your new skills profile.
The main update, as you might have guessed from above is the new editable profiles section. You should be able to log in from the”my options” link on the front page and from there update your profile, category and mailing list preferences. If you want to be visible to the world, you need to make sure that the “Display my skills” button is set to yes.
The mailing lists is something we have done before, but will be back now bigger and better than before. Have updates sent to you rather than have to check the site on a regular basis. I’m also looking at some kind of RSS feed for updates, will keep people posted.
There are also links in the my options page to old forum favourites, top posters, member lists, search etc and a way to edit your forum profile aswell.
Overdue a bit maybe, but here now.
Anyway, please let me know what problems arise,
Dave

InactiveJust tap your heals together three times and say, there’s no place like broadband land, there’s no place like broadband land, there’s no place like broadband land!

InactiveI was using culchieband (56K) the other day. I’ve never detested anything more in my life. I just wouldn’t use the internet at that speed. There’s better things to be doing than staring at a white screen for 55 minutes in every hour.
Good work with the skills section, Dave!

KeymasterI just noticed there is not a category for education/research which I guess is why I don’t have a skills entry myself and perhaps other academics who are teaching games and might be able to provide expertise to companies are not listed…one to add me thinks Dave..we need jobs too!

InactiveSorry. I’m not *really* on a crusade against academia…
Will add it now.

Inactivenice one, Dave
Suggestion: maybe the mailing list options should all be selected by default rather than unselected? It’s pretty standard… plus also means IGDA mailing list can be merges with GD’s as planned as many have signed up for the event & news notifications
