Thoughts are more than welcome on it. :)

That looks good , nice one.
If you want to make that gun shot little monkeys that run up enemies legs, claw at their faces and sucking out their eyeballs , then feel free.
You can have that idea for nothing….its cool, dont mention it, I have loads of these *great* ideas.

Thanks for the comments!
The weapon plus most things apart from the jungle itself is our old placement files that we are replacing soon enough. We are using the TGE for Illumina, after all this is all in game development screenshots. But there is only so far sceenshots can do without a demo being out there.. watch this space. :) -

Great work! It’s been easy to see the progress of the studio over the last year or so. Keep it up.
I think that the display bars on the top right hand side could be distracting while playing. Have you thought about lowing the transparency to make them blend in more? Just an idea. :)

Can I say, I’m really confused as to who / what Starcave are…
Working on Camelot and then hiring in teams working on independent games? Is that right? This no real info on the website…

Second that, a “triple A fps game” seems to be a fair stone throw away from the Camelot game

The interface has yet to get its makeover on Illumina, i will post a screenshot when its up to see what ye think of it.
Who is StarCave? Well an Irish Games Developer based in Galway. We are making budget range games like Camelot, Illumina & Terra: Formations. As well we are about to start on our first full priced (“AAA”) game. We have teams world-wide & growing to maintain a 24 hour development house.
That is just the tip of the iceberg, we are doing things abit different from other studios & there is good reasons why we do what we do.Websites have yet to be updated which is on the todo list asap. When we get them done i will post a link here as the websites will help clear up info regarding StarCave. :)

Cos I’ll always been confused about you guys I may have read this wrong, but didn’t you ‘buy in’ the illumina game and team? Are you managing and helping external teams to produce products?? *very confused*

Single Cell (Illumina), Cellien and Staridia teams have all been brought out by StarCave including the games, staff, copyrights, etc. etc.
We had been watching these teams closely before we engaged with talks them joining up with us and we will continue to keep our eyes on more upcoming teams / games.
I can’t say too much about our internal structures at this point but everyone involved with each team are very happy to be part of StarCave as each person makes StarCave their own.
We also have Allianced game developers where we work along side them on productions. :)

The terrain and vegetation look deadly, not too pushed on the HUD though.

Here is more goodies for ye to check out, for more check out one of the Producers of Illumina (Ian Roach) blog at: http://www.garagegames.com/blogs/5588/8013
Things have been progressing well on illumina on all fronts. New models, concepts, music and other things are coming out weekly.
2 of our newest models are new dropships. These come with a complete set of animations for landing gear, thrusters, cockpits amongst other things.
I created 2 short movies showing off the dropships in showtool and there respective animations.
You can find them here
http://www.illumina-game.com/dropship1.avi
http://www.illumina-game.com/dropship2.aviOur main menu has been finalised to help create a sense of doom and a feeling of isolation we hope to carry out throughout our maps. Heres a quick movie of our menu as the background fades in.

The background artwork was done by fiesal, and is amazing, we hope to get more high res pics for other menus soon. A new soundtrack created by nicholas palmer really helps set the mood with some harmonics and orchestral sounds. You can find his website here :
On the mapping front weve added a new Forest test level to see how we cope in that regard and results were very good, I took a few movies of me in the jungle and trying out the bravetree tankpack and other things :)

Very nice! Is this game going to use the TSE?
If so, it looks like you and Torc could be up for a bit of healthy competition to release the first FPS with Irish ties :)

Mal[/quote:51af97e20d]who said we’re doing an FPS?!
plus, if the criteria is ‘irish ties’ (sound similar to the Irish football team – i.e. me great grand-da once passed through Skibbereen – can I play for the national team?!) then I reckon at least some of the 190-odd Irish IGDA members worked on FPS’ at some stage

:) Illumina is being done with the TGE & it will be a budget range game as it will not be in much competition with full “AAA” priced titles such as the Torc fps. However lets get some good gameplay competitions tho! ;)

Here is our finalised (might still do a bit here and there on it) GUI for Illumina. In this last stage, any comments on it would be great!

Looks very cool.
I’d say you need some more visual cues to what the numberical information is at the top of the screen ( on both sides ). Maybe even some sort of additional paneling ( like below ) to contain the numbers, so that they aren’t hanging in mid-air.

Very nice. Does the bar on the left pop in/out as needed?
-
29/06/2005 at 1:26 pm #22621AnonymousInactive
The font in all instances across the top doesn’t match the font on the bottom. Is that intentional?
-
29/06/2005 at 1:36 pm #22622AnonymousInactive
There will be more visual clues in a way to the numbers hanging out there (will tell more later on it ;) )
The side panel can be moved in & out. That panel is for the commanders, while troops wont have that panel option.
The fonts indeed dont match the bottom which we will be fixed shortly, we didnt need to change them just yet.
Great feedback btw :) Thx guys
