InactiveHi there,
I’m working late ( feckin deadlines ), the TVs on in the background with the Irish Fame and Fortune lotto style game, and it looks like they are running a game with a similar style to Camelot Galway in the background.
Could someone from Starcave confirm whether it’s their work or not?
If it is, then nice job on getting onto TV!

InactiveTo be honest, whenever I have seen that game I have slagged it off.
But fair dues if anyone here worked on it, cool to get stuff on TV! -

InactiveIf those are the same graphics that they’ve been using for a few years, then I don’t reckon its starcave.
One of the lads on our course last year had that show on his portfolio, as far as I know it wasn’t a games company that did it.

InactiveI have not seen the Irish Fame and Fortune lotto style game on the TV but it is not Camelot Galway (tourist product not game product).
Here is a sneek video preview of the Terra playable tech demo for anyone interested. Which is the last public showing of this title in 06 until it reaches a futher developed stage in 2007.

InactiveHi all,
The reason I mentioned it is that the graphics seem vastly updated – the old one involved a robot flying around Ireland, this new one involved moving around to areas within a medieval town, with a character always in the scene and familiar sounding music.
There was also one scene where the camera flew around a ship which was the spit of the one from Camelot Galway, so I figured maybe the Starcave guys gave the show a bit of a much needed 3D revamp.

I found it very strange and you are making tech demos viewable by the public…

Releasing stuff to the public is a great way of getting exposure for indie developed games – we don’t all have Rockstars marketing budget ;)

I would agree with you but for the fact that I would hardly call it a 3D revamp. The graphics looks as cheap and awful as before in my opinion. In all fairness, they couldn’t have paid more than a couple of hundred quid for the graphics. Chances are they paid a small fortune though, which is the saddest thing of all! :P

Oh I know that, and I understand the benefit, what i don’t understand is releasing tech demos. Surely it would be much better to have a tech demo for internal use and then from that, make a fun play demo to be released to the masses. Tech demos should be for internal use only. A lot of publishers don’t understand what a tech demo is, general public probably won’t understand either.

InactiveHey guys =D Sorry i havent posted here in so long, been a crazy year.
As far as Fame and Fortune goes, thats work done by myself and a few others. Were doing freelance work for Lendac Data Systems atm and RTE is one of their contractors.
Its based on historical figures, Robin Hood, Christopher Columbus and so on.
Its done using the Reality Engine, for those interested =D
Cheers guys,
Paul
