Kind of difficult to make out things… though it looks pretty. Any ideas if there’ll be a public demo?

Looks interesting. Good luck with it. When can we expect to see it available?

Very nice!
I’m sure you guys have learnt a lot from releasing your first game ( actually putting any type of finished game out is something that a lot of companies these days don’t even get to ), so I’m looking forward to seeing this, your next game!

Very nice indeed!
I’m getting a rather Battlezone type vibe from it which can only be a good thing in my book! :D

A public demo might be released but it is uncertain yet when & as far as the game being completed, maybe this time next year since we are only in tech demo stage with it. Also Terra is our 3rd game (4th if you count the 3D action puzzle free game called Spike).

Reminds me of Aliens….if I remember rightly that’s what you guys are going for, the whole Cameron vibe. Very nice, looking forward to seeing it in action.

Yeah, not sure about the hud either. Might be nicer if you turned off all the debug text too :)

lol, its a tech demo lads! We will fix the hud later ;)
We have also just put up the customer website of Illumina for the near pending release of the commerical beta.
http://www.illumina-online.com
The current download vids might be changed later for a better impact of the overall game.

Looking pretty good. However I have one question.
Will this game be given a full commercial release or will it be a budget download or something?
It’s just that I can’t really see it competing with some of the spectacular looking games which are due to be release next year. Whilst this game doesn’t look bad or anything, it is well below the visual standard of the likes of Call of Duty 2, Gears of War and other games developed on next gen engines. And as such it would be very difficult for it to compete for sales with games of that calibur.I understand that the game is still in development and I’m not trying to put the game down or anything, just trying to get a realistic view on what your goal is with this title.

That site is…..errr….hmmm….errr…..in need of some TLC?
What nooptical said. I’d be afraid that if it did get a full release it might get passed over simply on the looks…which would be a shame. People are fickle….

Keith, I know you say its only a tech demo and we’ll fix it later, but isn’t it a case that in the games world, if you like the first look of a game, its sticks in the mind and you need to work even harder to convert those that saw the earlier ‘tech demo’ version.
Its my belief that if you don’t think that your screen-shots reflect the final look of the game, you shouldn’t release them. Just my opinion…. -

Good comments there :)
Illumina is aimed for low end PC machines, we don’t expect to compete with the latest games on the market which have greater graphical enhanced engines compared to the Torque Game Engine. Illumina is for gamers who can’t always afford to buy the lastest PC’s today & in the future. Illumina is an Indie game & we are expecting world-wide retail versions within Q1 of the new year of the complete gold version. As for the Terra Demo, i released the shots here to gamedevelopers.ie community only, i will not need to do so in the future since we have to keep the rest under the hood. Terra is aimed towards the next gen consoles and PC, its not a online download game like the others. The Terra demo properly started only recently with the resources free to work on it. These screen-shots only show a small part of the overall demo & its 5 weeks work in total which i think is not bad at all by any standard. If we had the resources to really go all out on the Terra tech demo we would surely have made a far better version and in the games world we have to know when to stop and when to deliver what our goals are in surviving a very competitive industry in the small funded community of Irish game developers compared to other countries.
Myself would like to see more Irish indie or full commerical PC / console game developers in Ireland, we could sure need them for various reasons. Just my thoughts on it for what its worth. :)

I think it’s great that you even post images, there have been a few Irish game demos that were released, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t see any images posted on these boards about it.
So, definitely keep posting images, and any up to date progress etc!
Regards…

true true, but the government doesnt seem to want to get off its arse. im sure if the right funding was there the likes of sony\sega\ms\ea might be very tempted to make a move. Personally i think alot of programmer\artists etc would jump at the chance to live and work in Ireland. look at the present flow of people moving to vancouver to work for EA coz its a cool place to live and there’s loads to do outside the office hours.
