InactiveDid anybody see anything on the load of PSP’s being hijacked lastnight/this morning in Swords/Dublin. I briefly caught something about it on TV3 news this morning, but I can’t find anything about it online yet.
Does anybody know the story?

InactiveDid you hear how many it was? I could swear the report said 10,000 or something like that[/quote:9f2a334c64]saw it on news last night… truck had just left plant in Swords and was robbed while driver was stopped at motorway petrol station. driver was beaten, tied and gaged and stuffed into the lorry, which was driven to a housing estate and emptied. He was left there until rescued by a passer by who heard him shouting.
didn’t catch number that was stolen, but they were bound for Limerick – so imagine there will be lots of disappointed gamers in Limerick at midnight tonight!

InactiveHas Max Clifford got anything to with this, one wonders…
Also wonder if SONY would do something about it, given that the things are WiFi’ed and SONY *should* have the relevant serials, presumably somehow accessible over-the-air when the units eventually get bought/used?
Maybe ElectricBirdLand had a hand

Inactivenot exactly relevant, but this reminds me of the stories of dell having ram delivered to limerick in ambulances about five years back when there was a big shortage…

InactiveYes. Massively quiet launch. Possibly no need to advertise, given so many were pre ordered and how few there are actually available.

InactiveHey guys,
I was watching the news, and checking the papers and there hasn’t been anything with respect to the PSP robbery in them.
Does anyone have any links to news coverage?

InactiveToo Expensive and Delicate for me. They are beautiful though..I love the screen.
GTA should see it sell by the bucketload. For the money I am not that excited by ports of existing games, sorry.

You have to love journalists who understand what they’re writing about. -

Inactive@Malward
A mate in the states picked up one for me a while ago.
I love my PSP!
i’m on the train a fair bit, and the journey flys with it.
i bought a gig mem stick for it, a 2 hour movie takes about 400-450mb.
battery lasts for 6 hours. longer if just watching movies(not playing games).
i got lumines and wipeout pure, both great games.bottom line IMHO:
totally worth 250 squids (and the 100odd for 1gig ram). -

Surely thats the wrong way around. Watching movie means constantly spinning disk, means using more battery.i’m happy with my gba :)

Inactiveif watching UMD movies yes.
i got a gig mem stick, so i rip my dvds and copy them to the card. (hence i was talking about 2hours movie taking about 400-450megs).
no spinning motor stuff on mem card = more bat time.

InactiveNope.
I think handheld prices have always been ridiculous when compared to console prices. -

Inactivei agree that they are too expensive.
but i wonder if it isn’t justified now?
content wise on the psp version of wipeout, there isn’t much difference between it and its ps1 predecessors.
other psp games seem quite content filled too. -

And yet it costs more than the PS2 version -

InactiveHah, the Gardai were on the news earlier referring to the theft of “a shipment of Playstation Hand Pods”, and I thought ill-informed journos were bad! :D
Theres articles in all the newspapers today about them too. “Most of the informed punters will have placed desposits on their units months ago to ensure they get theirs on launch day” ….eh not, most “informed” people will have gotten them on import from the likes of Liksang!
