Hi all,
Read that Torque are releasing a new version of their 2D Torque Game Builder, apparently with support for Wii also.
Just wondering if anyone has used this tool? Is this just a glorified GameMaker? (No disrespect to GameMaker).

"Independent engine developer GarageGames has announced the release of its Torque engine for Apple’s iPhone, bringing the 2D and 3D capabilities of the company’s Game Engine and Game Builder to the platform with full support for the iPhone’s unique interface features."
I’m still thinking about doing an iphone game. Single 3D room with lots of animated characters. Want easy pipe line for bone animations which is why I am thinking about an engine. Good idea or should I roll my own?
What would Torque Engine be Like for that? (Evolved from tribes engine right). Would it be too big an overhead on iphone? Torque Script Good?

Torque Script Good?[/quote:86e2e71baa]
NO!!!!
I haven’t done anything with Torque in a few years so I don’t know if they have updated it (I doubt they have) but it’s a complete mess from my experience.

I don’t know about their game builder, but from my own experience Torque stuff lacks in docs big time
You can be left scratching your head trying to work out what is going on, and then for example, find out that some of the code actually does nothing and it just simply wasn’t removed from the source before they released it.

From what we have seen the Torque 2d game builder has some documentation however we got burned very recently (6 weeks ago) by lack of documentation on Torque X the 3d version of the game builder. There was next to NOTHING in the way of documentation. We were going to buy the licence but with the lack of documentation it just wasn’t an option. It seems an aweful waste to build these tools and just not support them.

Thanks guys. Demo outlining features crashed on my computer so that’s the final nail… that was quick.
