Might be a good choice alright.
The torque community are very helpful people and the forums are always buzzing with support.
Havent looked at the RTS engine but i assume it would be similar to the Torque Game Engine but with some more scripts etc.
It is a relatively easy engine to pick up and the realtime level editing is what did it for me!
