It’s like a low rent of the Donnie Darko website pre-theatrical release, which had the air of a puzzle but was really just some more viral marketing. This one has more tech thrown in though.
Did you follow the clues? Google Silvio Meier Zurich and input the number-reading mp3. Etc. Follow the white rabbit :D

Thats a reference to the novel "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck

Maybe "The Pearl" is a reference to the programming language perl which might have something to do with the "obfuscation"
