The CPU problem was pretty much fixed with the introduction of the Falcon revision for all of the 360 iterations. Jasper, as the article says, will do the same for the GPU.
As for the Inquirer article, I’d be amazed if that happened to be quite honest. Even if Microsoft do it they’ll need to be very clear that they have no intention of releasing any games on the BR platform. If not then the backlash from console owners could be far more vocal than they imagine.
Not really kyotokid, from what I’ve heard the numbers of returned consoles with the current Falcon chipset are insignificant compared to what they were with previous iterations. I know my Elite is still perfect and that was nearly 7 months ago. Even if you were buying a console now I’d have no problem recommending a 360, especially if rumors are true Europe will be getting an 80GB PS3 with software backwards compatibility by the end of the year.
