A 3Dcamp (3Dcamp.Barcamp.ie) is to be held at the University of Limerick on the 6th June 2009.
BarCamps are an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants.
Registration is free of charge. In Ireland, previous BarCamps have taken place in Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork and have attracted 100+ participants (see http://barcamp.org/BarCampIreland ).
The theme of the 3Dcamp will be ‘The pervasive internet’. The organisers hope to attract talks on, and participants interested in, virtual worlds, 3D modelling techniques and tools, Augmented Reality, GPS and location-based-services and mapping, interactive art installations among other things.
The organisers are trying to attract not only people interested in technology, but also entrepreneurs, practitioners, freelancers, passionate users, artists involved with 3D technology, sociologists, learning technologists and researchers.
The event will foster up to three different strands of discussion in parallel, not only presentations, but also panel discussions, tutorials for beginners and advanced users, initiation trips in virtual worlds, competitions and games. Everyone is welcome to present or facilitate a session, and share information and their experiences of the event via any public web channel.
