The politics of IDA announcements is to publicise the fact that ‘they’ brought a company into the country
we have to work through other channels to get our publicity…

The announcement we quote from the Dept. of Employment is the full/official announcement, as IDA report to them…

May is e3 month and start of conference season for us academics…also bank holidays at the beginning and the end which are never too good for organising shindigs.
..but hey, if we can agree on a date then great..
it also sees a month of games events in the digital hub..so tying it onto one of them might be an option..
having said that I would love to get to Cork during the year of culture…anyone down there want to try an organise or suggest a games related event – not just a shindig??
I wonder are there flights from Derry to Cork…?

mm, we have very few photos actually…I have about four before my batteries ran out and no-one else seemed to be snapping..there might be a few mobile photos from later??

Much thanks to everyone for turning up on Friday night…we had 50 chairs out and there were still people standing which is always a good sign.
I will write a proper review when I get back up to Portrush later today but for those of you who want to know who won!!….

Many thanks to our speakers on the night – things continued in McGruders, then Handels and then some late night eating establishments…think I got home around 4am!! Still life in these them bones eh..

I have just posted the final list of nominations and the revised progamme for tomorrow night, including a link to a map of the place, under news on the home page.
Unfortunately a speaker from DC studios cannot make it so we have had to revise our list of speakers and the times.
I have been in contact with DC and they are aware of discussions on these forums and will be making announcements to us as soon as they can re. the Dublin studio and their plans. I look forward to circulating them to everyone as soon as we know more..
Regardless I think tomorrow night will be a very useful event and a great chance for people to meet people in the industry and in acadmia. About 50 people expressed an interest in attending the event so hopefully they will turn up on the night and make it the best birthday so far for gd.ie!!
I am looking forward to it…and the new look site will be unveiled too and hopefully we will have banned little boxes, broken forms and other such annoyances from our site..!!

I am back now so no talking behind my back..(day of meetings)
bemoaning that no-one listens to me – I see I got another nomination…- it is a wasted vote folks…
decisions on winners will be made by me and Nicky Grogan – who will be the independent outsider who makes sure my biases are not obvious!!
winners in each category were obvious but the late rush of votes is hotting things up…
