talked to John Kroeger in DTI too who heads up their games policies..gave me some good OECD contact info..they are doing a study on broadband content which includes games..

I will be looking into the French approach and today I heard that the German gov. is going to, or is already, using a tax on games sold to fund game development..don’t know the details yet but hope to soon…

Aphra KKeymasterOne of the lecturers on the multimedia course in DCU is interested in doing a PhD in a sound related topic at the sonic arts centre and I told him to see if there might be any practical type projects going on with games companies…he would be keen that his project would have a practical application and perhaps even to investigate working part of the time in a games company..if any of you know of possibilities in this area let me know and I will pass on the info..

but we could get a games or SIG going and have something tied onto awakenings…or organise something separately later on….
in fact one of the things I thought it would be good to organise next year was an academic games workshop/networking event..
and don’t forget that Trinity is hosting Eurographics next summer…which will be a great opportunity to get Irish games researchers together as well..
