3. EI Presentation on how to get funding etc
4. TBC (Xbox Centre), waiting for confirmation todayI’m planning on running these from 12 till about 4, and then the stuff in the Science Gallery is at 7, and the Lombard at 8.
Tea, coffee and sandwiches will be provided for all of those attending, and the address is
The address is Digital Skills Academy, Digital Court, Rainsfort Street, Dublin 8. Which is beside the Guinness Storehouse

At Arthur’s Pub on Thomas Street take a left turn onto Thomas Court and take the first right for Rainsfort Street. The entrance to the Digital Court building is the first black door on your left on Rainsfort Street. There is on-street parking available on Rainsfort Street and on the surrounding streets.
Jamie McKeymasterJamie McKeymasterHi Aphra,
I’ll be doing a screen capture of the day as a minimum, and I think they’re checking with the guys in Digital Hub TV about borrowing the camera. If worst comes to worst, we have a camera and tripod in work that I can see if I can borrow.
For videos though, should we set up a GD.ie youtube channel? We could host people’s game trailers and stuff there too…
Cheers
Jamie
Jamie McKeymasterI also may have a speaker on the old Xbox centre, and some lessons from the business side of that, hoping to confirm today.
Also, if there’s enough registrations for the workshops, GNE’s Game Evaluation Manager has said that he’ll be able to do one on the kind of things publishers are looking for in a game.
And I’ll be doing one on basic marketing, and I’ve had a chat with the guys from GamesPress.com this morning and they’ve agreed to do a Skype call to give some hints and tips on the PR side, which will link with the PR workshop.
So anyone who wants to attend these events, please register through http://www.amiando.com/gdienov12workshop
Jamie McKeymasterHi all,
Enterprise Ireland have confirmed that they will be able to send a speaker to go through the options available to companies, so any of you who are new and interested in getting access to these kind of funding programs, competitive startup funds etc, now’s your chance to get some info straight from the source.
Tickets are at http://www.amiando.com/gdienov12workshop
Thanks
Jamie
Jamie McKeymasterhi all,
we are up to ten attendees now, and there’s still plenty of space.
The gd.ie forum mail seems to be acting up, so please check and relay this message please
Subject: ICGS 2012 Launch, Workshops & Shindig Friday 16/11 + Expat Survey
Hi
There are several events taking place on Friday 16th November we’d like to inform you about.
1. The results of the Irish Computer Games Survey will be launched at the Digital Skills Academy, Digital Hub, Dublin 8 at 9.30am on Friday 16th November. If you would like to attend the launch, please get in touch with jamiemc or aphra via the PM on the forums, or email jamie.mccormick@gmail.com
2. A series of workshops are scheduled to be organised for the Friday afternoon from 12pm at the same location. Information on these is available at http://www.gamedevelopers.ie/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6909 and you can reserve your free place at http://www.amiando.com/gdienov12workshop
3. There is an organised tour scheduled for the GAME: State of Play exhibition at the Science Gallery, Trinity College at 7pm.
4. There is a shindig organised for across the road in the Lombard pub from 8pm.
5. Also, Dublin GameCraft is running on Saturday 17th, you can get more information at http://www.dublingamecraft.com
6. Later on this month, there is also the DIT State of Play event on Friday 30th November in DIT Aungier Street. Details of this are at http://www.gamedevelopers.ie/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6905
Finally, for all of those of you who aren’t in Ireland any more, as a follow up to the survey we are running an expat survey to find out why you left Ireland. We would really appreciate if as many expats as possible who are members of GD.ie could fill in the survey, and spread the word to colleagues who you know. The link for this survey is http://tinyurl.com/irishexpatgamessurvey2012
Thanks a million!
Aphra & Jamie
Jamie McKeymasterHi all,
The October survey has now been closed, we received information from an additional 27 companies in total, and I’d like to thank everyone who participated for participating.
Results of this survey will be published as part of The Games Industry in Ireland 2012 report published on 16th November
Thanks!
Jamie
Jamie McKeymasterbump
Jamie McKeymasterunless you want to do it on the 16th?
I’ll see if we can host one in gne
Jamie McKeymasterI set this up, I’ll confirm the final numbers shortly.
Jamie McKeymasterThanks a million Aphra
I can’t add a poll to the original post, so could you add the following choices:
1. Basic Marketing for Games & Apps
2. Basic PR for Games & Apps
3. Business Planning
4. Community Management
5. What are publishers looking for in a gameIf people want to propose other topics, please stick them here. The Digital Skills Academy in the Digital Hub have generously offered their venue for the launch and workshops, and if my memory is right there are four pods with 3×6 PC’s and 1×6 Mac’s, so we’ll have room for about 24 people for each workshop, plus standing room for anyone who wants to participate.
We have had a great response to the survey, and we hope that the report gives everyone some good information on what the industry in Ireland in 2012 actually looks like.
Thanks!
Jamie
Jamie McKeymasterHi all,
I’m up to 24 respondants for the October Survey, of which there are several new companies. Can anyone else who hasn’t taken part please do this by the end of the week, so I can finalise the report by the weekend.
Cheers
Jamie

I just want to say a big thank you to all the companies who took part, or confirmed numbers for the survey tonight. I met at least five companies who have started since the last one, and its really good to see so many people going for it :)
