I just noticed there is not a category for education/research which I guess is why I don’t have a skills entry myself and perhaps other academics who are teaching games and might be able to provide expertise to companies are not listed…one to add me thinks Dave..we need jobs too!

response to my Q stated that there were two stages to the selection process – nomination and then the creation of a short list whereby each nomination was judged against certain criteria. It seems we were nominated but did not make it past the selection process for the short list.
It would have been nice to know there were two steps in the process..
and what the criteria were..
anyway, looks like I won’t be going then either..

well we did get an e-mail saying we were nominated. Not sure now what we were nominated for…? I will be asking them given that we were thinking of forking out money to attend the event..

There is an IGDA meeting in Dundalk that day so I have to check start time etc. to see if I will be back..but I am fairly certain..

well now we should probably talk about the golden spiders do on the 1st and see who is interested in going. It will have to be each person paying for themselves but I wouldn’t want to go if I was Billy no mates…lets take this discussion over to the golden spiders thread…

We had been hoping to get an interview with the Aussie company who developed the game before the launch but sony wasn’t too keen. Anyway, Pavel is still trying to get an interview with them. Watch the feature space.

yes us cluchies will probably have headed down home or be heading home on the 23rd… Christmas Eve is the next day.
how are people fixed for any day on christmas week? My understanding is that companies will probably have plenty of dos that week – us academics of course do not partake in such pre-christmas activities.

Aphra.yep they come up from time to time. As with most research postgrads though they are usually tied into the expertise of a particular lecturer or research project so it is worth getting to know who in each university is specialising in what. If you let us know what area in particular you are interested in I am sure someone here could direct you to an individual or department.
