so Friday the 11th of November is the current date being bandied about..how is this with people. Fine with me now I am back in Dublin :)

just a quick note. Sunday Tribune want to do a follow up piece next week on the implications this has for the wider games industry. I guess they will be in touch with a few folks over the next few days and might be worth reading next weekend..

Very sorry to hear about Kapooki – the story was in the Tribune as well at the weekend.
The lads were very helpful to a lot of people and gave generously of their knowledge of the industry in interviews, to journalists, on games industry panels and on the IGDA committee. Game companies come and go quite regularly in other countries, we hope that these guys get jobs elsewhere and other companies can benefit from their experiences.

PJ do a search for Dundee and Abertay here cause people on the boards have discussed it in detail before. Women in Games this year was in the new student’s union in Dundee and it was great even if the ventalation didn’t quite work!

Ronny..current feature details how one Irish company tried to do a GAA football game..
we tried to do a follow up interview with the Australian company but were not allowed by sony..
guess they might allow us now since they have announced it.

nice to meet Alex from Trinity, John/Wilted and Brian last night and their mates at the sony party. Most are new on the boards so welcome along.
Also met Dylan and Paul from Demonware, Pavel, our regular contributor and of course Niall O’Hanrahan, host of the party, from Sony.
I have a few pics from the night which I will upload once I find the cable in my multiple boxes here in the office..
free drink all night, good music and 1,000 people – not bad for a mid week party!!

Mm, well like a lot of things it doesn’t look like much yet as it is a bunch of word files and a couple of sponsorship letters which have been sent out.
We have some bodies interested in funding this and the idea was to have a special section on, or link from gd.ie which provided info on courses, profiles of Irish people working in the industry and info on the Irish industry. We would supplement this with a flier to be sent to career guidance teachers in secondary schools north and south of the border.
A lot of work got done on this by Jamie almost a year ago and I have been tardy in taking it to the next stage. Then again, we were also redesigning gd.ie at the time too…
so you haven’t missed it and when I get my act together I will be looking for others to help..

it is in industry hall which seems like a fairly big venue.
I will be at the main entrance to industry hall rather than one of the million other entrances to the RDS…

Hi all,
what a day, headed to work and there was no electricity so I had to go home to get online. Anyway, I will be e-mailing the following people directly but just in case you are on here Alex, Wilted, Niamh and Brian you definitely have tickets for tonights event if you can still make it. I am keeping three tickets for the administrators on these boards – they have to get something – which means there are three still left.
I will meet people at the door of the party at 8pm. For those who think they will be late please let me know via e-mail or here and I will put your full names on the tickets and leave them at the door.

yes depending on the concept you may be looking for a console/Pc company or a mobile company, you may be looking to sell the idea or get a prototype made, you may have some skills yourself or none..if you are talking to companies though you will want to investigate NDAs, non disclosure agreements..
