Hi guys,
I’ve a bit of a personal crusade against spyware so the first thing is if you’ve got XP get SP2, it protects against a bucketload of stuff like this.
The best approach to this is a fairly broad one. Unfortunately, no single application will get rid of everything so you’ll have to use a combination of tools to get rid of it.
Firstly, get CWShredder (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe) or if the link isn’t working google the filename. This is a program specifically designed to get rid of Cool Web Search. Once you’ve done that, then get yourself a copy of SpySweeper, SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware (all available free on download.com ) and run them. Once you’ve done that, and if you’re using XP download the SP2 AFTER you’ve cleared your system out.
This should work, and keep them on your system if you get reinfected in the future.

Jamie McKeymasterI’ll have to confirm the details, but I’m heading up from Dublin and will have room for 3 people from Dublin if people need lifts, would make it cheaper for me if I could split the cost of petrol for the trip. I’ll be leaving from city centre but have no idea of the plan yet other than I’ll be going from around the Stephen’s Green / Camden Street area, so once people know about ticket allocations, you can email me at jamiemc1 / // at // / eircom . net and first three will get preference.

Jamie McKeymasterThis could be solved by one of those wiki thingies (drupal or something?), not too sure on the technical end of things, but they seem to be perfect for community sites and seem to get around the problem that I was having updating the site when the server moved, and that it makes it easy for certain members to be granted write priveliges, that anyone can submit stories etc. and you can have it set up so that people can submit pieces and these can be passed before they are published, if a person submits a piece then they can update it themselves (might solve the skills issue) and it also lets people post replies to any story, although I’m sure you can limit this to certain areas.
Not too sure how easy it would be to work, but then again it might simply be a case of copying and pasting pieces over, and you could attach the relevant old dates to articles too.
Just an idea

Jamie McKeymasterRemember that VC pitch event in Dublin, where companies who took part gave a 3 minute pitch of what they were doing.[/quote:6acd81e5e3]
The problem with this is a simple one, who would people show their wares to? It’s the first time that it’s being done here in Ireland, and it’s not as if this country is brimming with publishers in the first place. Maybe something seperate or at a future event where publishers from abroad could be invited to view what’s going on in Ireland might be a more practical idea.

Jamie McKeymasterDoes that mean you’re forever locked into drinking orange juice at future shindigs? That can’t be in your work contract up there <:/
Eh?…Can I come?[/quote:d6b4eb3dec]
Everyone is welcome, we turn nobody away (a problem sometimes >:) )

Jamie McKeymasterHi guys,
That’s booked now for Friday 24th September in Toners on Baggot Street, downstairs in the usual spot. I’ve said between 10-20 will turn up, so don’t make me a liar!
I’m wrapping everything up here at the moment, so I won’t be around for the next 2 weeks, but I’ll try and make it out as I’m back on the 24th, so hopefully will see you all there.
My last day here in DemonWare so I’m going to wreck the place up (messing), so next time I’ll be a bum again.
Take it easy

Jamie McKeymasterWill need to know particulars, though (where? parking? what’s on draught at the bar? etc.)[/quote:80b5a45920]
Steph,
It’s usually Toners on Baggot Street, where parking is free after 7pm and all you really need to do is come along and have a few pints. They’re not the most formal of occasions, and there’s usually people doing silly things like ending up in strange bars on the northside surrounded by goths and rockers (Dave’s trip to the zoofibbers). There’s the usual range of drinks on tap, Guinness, Heineiken, Bud etc.
