MA Digital Games Theory and Design
Brunel, London * * * * * *This innovative new progamme enables students to engage in, and experiment with, practical game design. We explore a range of theories and concepts with which to analyse the values implicit within games and go back to ‘basics’ by considering what it is that makes for ‘good’ game play. Different types of games are explored with the aim of developing designs that are both innovative and that might appeal beyond the current core markets for digital games.
You will be taught by a team of experienced games researchers, some of whom have played a pioneering role in making game studies a new academic discipline. The programme is led by Tanya Krzywinska, Vice President of Digital Games Research Association and co-author of Tomb Raiders and Space Invaders: Videogames Forms and Meanings (IB Tauris, 2006) and co-editor of ScreenPlay: Cinema/Videogames/Interfaces (Wallflower, 2002) and the programme is also taught by Steve Jackson, acclaimed author of interactive fictions, founder of GamesWorkshop and board member of Lionhead Studios.

Aphra KKeymastergreat to see some old faces out on Friday night and some people who travelled quite a distance. The haircuts are continuing, the Nintendo DS made an appearance, great gossip was to be had and I only spilt half a pint!
see you all at the next one..

Aphra KKeymasterit is hard to keep up with new courses and we do depend on people to send us in course outlines and others from the courses to let us know what they are like. If you want to get a staff member to send us in a course outline we will gladly add it if modules etc. look relevant.

Aphra KKeymasterok it took a while to get around to this but I got a Sony Ericsson K750i in the end – what a cool screen and camera. And they gave me 30 euro off cause I switched from Vodaphone to 02 – without having to change my no. How nice is that.

Aphra KKeymasterI pass on this one – given the last gd.ie foray to see a ‘good’ metal band :)

Aphra KKeymastergizmo might have some ideas about folks in DCU. We have people form the other colleges too on the boards although not sure about Carlow am I presume they have some handy coders too. Might be worth contacting them directly.
